Celebrating 20 years of Levi’s

Twenty years ago, Levi’s introduced Levi’s Engineered Jeans — an innovative approach to denim that used twisted side seams and a darted yoke to create a more ergonomic fit. The idea was that, by taking a forward-thinking approach to design, both comfort and freedom of movement could be maximized. When they launched in 1999, Levi’s Engineered Jeans were a massive success; popular not only for the way they fit, but also for their progressive style. They have been something of a legend for Levi’s ever since. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of these iconic jeans, Levi’s Engineered Jeans are back with a special edition re-issue for the 2019 season with a modern twist

For the 2019 edition, Levi’s Engineered Jeans are all about style, and will come in the popular, more contemporary fits such as the502™ RegularTaperfor men’s and afashionforward Loose Jean, Slouchy Taper and Reissue Trucker Jacket for women. As an added bonus, they will feature that hidden yet oh-so-comfortable four-way stretch. These fits allow for a vintage vibe while maintaining a more modern silhouette. Above that, inspired by the original garment details, the reissue will feature a red two-horse back patch, inner pockets printed with the Levi’s Engineered Jeans logo, and a Levi’s Engineered Jeans printed hanger loop. It is everything that made the 1999 version so popular, updated with a contemporary style.

There will also be the Levi’s Engineered Knit for him; a first for the brand. The 3D knit technology uses innovative construction techniques where the fabric is sewn as the garment is constructed - cutting the number of separate panels down from 10 to 5. This saves on both fabric waste and weave time, while reducing the total number of seams, providing extra comfort. Additionally, breathable panels are inserted in areas where you need it most. You will see this come to life in the Levi’s Engineered Jeans Knit Joggers that you can pair with a Tee and Trucker Jacket to complete the look.

Paired together, these two releases are a celebration of Levi’s innovations both past and present. They offer a glimpse of what the future of denim can be. Levi’s Engineered Jeans are now available from selected Levi’s stores. All items retail for R1999.
